UAAP's 75th Season Found its New Home at SM Mall of Asia Arena

The SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City which has a full capacity of 20,000, is gearing up to give the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) fans a never-before seen basketball watching experience as it becomes the host venue of UAAP's 75th Season.

National University, which will host the premier varsity league's season next year, announced during a press launch on Wednesday at the SMX Convention Center that the SM MOA Arena will host not just the league opening but also majority of the elimination round games.

This decision, according to soon-to-be UAAP President Nilo Ocampo, was expected given NU's affiliation with SM Group of Companies, which is now a majority holder of the university.

NU Athletics Director Junel Baculi said, "We want students and schools to take part in the action. We don' want to limit the excitement to the players."

Baculi added that NU, which is now owned by the Sy family of SM Supermalls, gave up this year's UAAP hosting to Ateneo to get the chance to host it next year at the MOA Arena which will open in May next year.

Erl Orenza, SM MOA Arena's Assistant Vice President for Events, says, "All seats can be considered prime spots. Plus, the amenities include big parking space, corporate suites and state-of-the-art technology facilities."
