김현중이 한류스타의 위용을 떨쳤다.김현중은 지난달 발표한 첫 솔로 앨범 ‘브레이크 다운’으로 아시아권 올킬에 성공했다.’브레이크 다운’은 지난 6월 8일 일본 오리콘차트 수입 앨범 판매 부문 주간 랭킹 1위를 차지한 것을 시작으로 지뮤직 파이브뮤직 등 대만 음악사이트 한일음악차트 1위, 홍콩 최대의 음원순위사이트인 KKBOX 한일음악차트 1위를 석권했다. 특히 홍콩 KKBOX에서는 타이틀곡인 ‘브레이크 다운’외에 앨범 수록곡인 ‘제발’과 후속곡 ‘키스키스’까지 순위권에 올라 눈길을 끌었다.
태국에서는 ‘브레이크 다운’이 채널 V 아시아 뮤직 차트 2위를 차지했으며, ’7월의 최고 아시아 팝뮤직’에도 선정되는 영광을 안았다. 채널 V 측은 “김현중의 이번 앨범은 그 자체만으로도 매력적”이라고 극찬하기도 했다.
여기에 볼리비아와 독일에서도 가시적인 성과를 거뒀다. 볼리비아에서는 ‘브레이크 다운’이 6월 둘째주와 7월 첫째주 K-POP 뮤직 차트 1위를 차지했으며, 독일 K-POP 차트에서도 발라드 수록곡 ‘제발’이 5위에 올라 관심을 끌었다. 김현중의 아시아 음악차트 석권과 남미-유럽지역에서의 선전은 정식 해외 활동을 시작하지 않은 상황에서 거둔 결과라 더욱 의미깊다.
김현중은 ‘키스키스’로 후속 활동을 시작한다. 이어 8월 1일 일본 도쿄를 시작으로 한달간 중국 대만 싱가포르 태국 베트남 등을 순회하며 현지 프로모션과 기자회견을 진행한다. 이어 11월부터는 10개국 12~3개 도시에서 4개월에 걸친 투어 공연을 계획하고 있다.
