Lyrics of the song Raah Pe Rahate Hain Yaadon Pe Basar Karate Hain with English translation from movie Namkeen.
It’s very difficult to translate this song, as this song explains the story of a truck driver and their life, how they live, move and think,
The song is the emotional journey of every truck driver or every person who is in a business of moving constantly from one city to another.
English translation of the song Raah Pe Rehte Hain, Yaadon Pe Basar Karte Hain is in Red Color.
Lyrics of the song - Raah Pe Rehte Hain, Yaadon Pe Basar Karte Hain
Ho..., Raah Pe Rehte Hain, Yaadon Pe Basar Karte Hain
Khush Raho, Ahl: E-Watan, Ho, Hum to Safar Karte Hain
We are always moving travelling with the memories, living on memories
I wish everyone in my country stays happy, I am on moving, travelling
Raah Pe Rehte Hain, Yaadon Pe Basar Karte Hain
Khush Raho, Ahl: E-Watan, Ho, Hum to Safar Karte Hain
We are always moving travelling with the memories, living on memories
I wish everyone in my country stays happy, I am on moving, travelling
Haan, Jal Gaye Jo Dhoop Mein To, Saaya Ho Gaye
Jal Gaye Jo Dhoop Mein To, Saaya Ho Gaye
When we feel tired from moving, travelling we take the rest, sleep
under any tree or any place which is cool
Aasmaan Ka Koi Kona, Odhaa So Gaye
We just find the peaceful corner, take rest
As sky and land becomes our home
Jo Guzar Jaati Hai Bas, Ho, Uspe Guzar Karte Hain
Whatever experiences we get in past, we keeping living on that experiences
Raah Pe Rehte Hain, Yaadon Pe Basar Karte Hain
Khush Raho, Ahl: E-Watan, Ho, Hum to Safar Karte Hain
We are always moving travelling with the memories, living on memories
I wish everyone in my country stays happy, I am on moving, travelling
Ho, Udte Pairon Ke Tale Jab, Behti Hai Zameen
Udte Pairon Ke Tale Jab, Behti Hai Zameen
When we are moving like flying it feels like road, land has become river
Mudke Humne Koi Manzil, Dekhi Hi Nahin
While moving fastly we do not watch what we are leaving behind
Beauty etc
Raat Din, Raahon Pe Hum, Ho, Shaam: O-Saher Karte Hain
Day and night we are moving, traveling when its night time we take the halt and that place we turned into our own city
Aise Ujde Aashiaane, Tinke Ud Gaye, Ho
Aise Ujde Aashiaane, Tinke Ud Gaye
Here he talks about dreams, how the dreams are broken, how the home is broken like when we have Katrina or say storm it takes away our homes everything in a second
Bastiyon Tak Aate Aate, Raste Mud Gaye
Before we reach to our destination, huts, slum area the roads have changed their direction for the rich people
Hum Thahar Jaayen Jahan, Ho, Usko Shahar Karte Hain
The place at which we stay we turned that place into a city
Raah Pe Rehte Hain, Yaadon Pe Basar Karte Hain
Khush Raho, Ahl: E-Watan, Ho, Hum to Safar Karte Hain
We are always moving travelling with the memories, living on memories
I wish everyone in my country stays happy, I am on moving, travelling
Below is the narration of story of Namkeen
Raahon Pe Rehnewala Yeh Musaafir, Gerulal
Safar Karte Karte Ek Baar Door :Daraaz Ke Pahaadon Mein Jaakar Ruk Gaya
Ek Chhotasa Gaaon Tha, Aur Us Gaaon Mein Toota :Phoota Sa Ek Ghar
Jahan Chaar Auraton Ka Ek, Adhoorasa Parivaar Rehta Tha
Amma Thi, Saath Se Upar Ki, Kuchh Sathiyaayee Hui Si, Kuch Behki Hui
Apne Aap Hi Se Baatein Karti Rehti Thi
Aur Uski Teen Betiyaan, Nimki, Mitthu, Aur Chinki
Shaadi Kisi Ki Nahin Ho Paayee
Log Kehte Hain, Maa Baap Ke Chheente Na Pade Hote, To Teenon Bihaai Jaatin
Dekhne Mein Bhi to Aakhir, Achchhe: Khaasi Hain
Badi Shaadi Ki Umr Se Guzar Chuki Hai
Aur Chhoti, Ladkon Ki Tarah Raaston Mein Thudde Maarti Chalti Hai
Shaadi Ki Umr Ko Bas Pahunchi Ki Ab Pahunchi
Aur Manjli, Bechaari Goongi Hai
Gerulal Ne Aksar Use Gungunaate Suna Hai
Behnein Kehti Hain Ki Woh Geet Likha Karti Hai

Review, Story of the Movie – Namkeen
Basi roti achar ke saath de Dena – Says it all
Roti means Bread
Achar means pickle
Three unmarried sisters live in a remote village in Himachal Pradesh with their old mother, Jugni (Waheeda Rehman)
A truck driver Gerulal that is Sanjeev Kumar moves into a hilly town.
He is single, alone and needs a home to stay.
The owner of hotel Dhaniram where Gerulal has meals daily takes down to a house in remote part of town.
The house is owned by Jugni who stays with her three unmarried daughters.
Direction is great, how the Indian village people live is shown exactly the way it is , today also in Year 2011 nothing has changed much for village people.
Exception is Mobile phone I think.
In Beginning Gerulal finds it difficult to stay with old lady and her three unmarried daughters but slowly they start to understand each other.
He becomes a protective guardian to Chinki (Kiran Vairale), a compassionate friend to Mithu that is Shabana, who can not speak and he falls in love with Nimki that is Sharmila Tagore.
When Mithu was young her father kidnaps her to make her a dancer just like her mother, but when she returns to her home, to her mother no one knows exactly what happened with her.
He never tells her that he loves her but expressions say it and when leaves her that final moment he tells her that he loves her, beautiful emotional scene.
He proposes to Nimki.
But she turns down his proposal citing the responsibility of her sisters and her mother, and asks him to marry Mithu instead - a request he cannot comply with.
On other part Mithu also thinks that Gerulal is made for her and dreams about him.
After Gerulal leaves she dies because of grief and pain.
When he gets news of his maternal grandmother's passing, he leaves and does not return for several months. When he returns, nothing and no one is the same anymore.
He comes to know that Mitthu lost her mental balance and committed suicide.
Jugni died of the shock
Chinki joined her father's troupe.
Gerulal rushes back to Jugni's old house to find Nimki, alone and aged beyond her years, almost a reflection of her mother.
This time, he takes her away with him.
The film was released on Doordarshan, India's National TV network in 1982 as it did not find any distributors
In 1998 DVD was released but the end is edited and changed.
I will say Namkeen is a movie which justifies the name, a great realistic drama.
Namkeen means mix of all tastes sweet and salty and with little bit spicy.
