On symbols and leadership

"Mr. Obama shouldn't be faulted for wanting to rest, relax and spend whole days with his family. But the timing of this vacation is incongruent, and so is the location.

"On the timing, there's an air of economic crisis hanging over everything, a sense that other shoes may drop. Actually it's a sense of something impending, with unemployment high, Europe broke and the Mideast reaching full boil.

Let him stay on the bus to nowhere

That's your president in that thing.
It is ridiculously easy to make fun of your President, so it's not fun anymore, but let's do it anyway. He is begging me to.

His public relations office has admitted that his "official" tour through states vital in the next election -- paid for by taxpayers -- is in fact a political trip. The office used these words in its newsletter: "The spectacle of a

Send your unneeded shame to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

Shame: The painful feeling arising from the consciousness of something dishonorable, improper, ridiculous, etc.   -- Dictionary.com

Wish you were here!
The President is taking care of his base: union thugs, higher education bureaucrats, teachers, federal workers, Hispanic voters, and the all-important Muslim vote. The last is because, "Islam has always been part of our American family." As

My brilliant new career

Me and my new life. All aboard!
Associate Administrator for Administration. It's a real job.

And you're going to pay me up to $179,700.00 each and every year til I get bored or die!

The job is in the Department of Transportation, so I'll have to move to Washington, where it gets hot a lot, but who cares -- housing prices are holding up there. I don't think they're having riots yet.

So who you gonna blame?

The White House and its enablers are scrambling, according to the headlines:

Obama campaign blames Tea Party for downgrade...
Barney Frank blames military...
I blame global warming.

Next week the president is off on a "job creation" bus tour, paid for by taxpayers, through states that just happen to be key battleground states in the election next year. Now there's a coincidence. Obama has

You aren't supposed to say that

Bernard Goldberg says it anyway:
President Obama has an op-ed out in USA Today about the debt-ceiling debate, and as sure as the sun rises in the east he’s pulling out that old liberal Democratic chestnut, calling for the wealthiest Americans to cough up their “fair share” of taxes. We’ve been through this before, but it means nothing to the president, or any other liberal Democrat for that

The guy keeps making speeches

Don't go there.
Las Vegas mogul Steve Wynn, a billionaire who calls himself a Harry Reid-supporting Democrat, doesn't think too highly of our President. In a conference call with analysts, he said:
"I'm telling you that the business community in this country is frightened to death of the weird political philosophy of the President of the United States. And until he's gone, everybody's going to

This guy will say just anything old thing

President Obama on Friday kept up the pressure on Republicans to agree to revenue increases in a deal to raise the debt ceiling, claiming 80 percent of the public supports Democrats' demand for tax increases.

The pollster Rasmussen: Just 34% think a tax hike should be included in any legislation to raise the debt ceiling. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 55% disagree

This was predicted

Vox populi.
President Obama on Tuesday said he cannot guarantee that retirees will receive their Social Security checks August 3 if Democrats and Republicans in Washington do not reach an agreement on reducing the deficit in the coming weeks.

Then, to round up some more folks to scare, he added: "This is not just a matter of Social Security checks. These are veterans checks, these are folks on

President Barack Obama says his wife and daughters aren't "invested" in him being president and would have been fine had he decided against running for re-election.
