West Memphis Three Releases in Prison (Video)

West Memphis Three, the guys responsible for murdering 8-year-old Steven Branch and two other members of West Memphis, Arkansas Cub Scouts in 1993 could be be set free Friday, August 19, after 18 years in prison.

Despite arguing their innocence, Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin known as "West Memphis Three" were convicted as teenagers and sent to prison in Arkansas. Echols was sentenced to death, while Misskelley and Baldwin for life in prison.

Last year the Arkansas Supreme Court ordered a lower-court judge to examine whether the three inmates should be exonerated in light of new tests that, the court ruled, “conclusively excluded Echols, Baldwin and Misskelley as the source of the DNA” found at the crime scene.

Now, author Mara Levertitt writes on the Free the West Memphis Three website that the three have been taken from their prison cells with all their belongings, "which is unusual and suggests that they are not expected back. This is the first time all three have left prison together."
